BARRY ISLAND IS OPEN AGAIN

The access road onto Barry Island is open again and car parking restrictions have been lifted after weeks of lockdown.

With the sun shining, the residents of Barry flock to the beach to enjoy each others company and breathe in the fresh summer air. The Rumba Bar is serving cocktails and beer as part of their take away service. The grass opposite becomes the biggest public beer garden in South Wales!

BLACK LIVES MATTER IN BARRY

The Black Lives Matter protest has just got underway in Kings Square, Barry.  

Protesters of all ages, all races, all backgrounds are showing up at Black Lives Matter protests out of love for their fellow human beings.

Three Eyed Raven Productions would like to document this event to demonstrate their solidarity and support for the Black Lives Matter movement over the death of George Floyd and stand against the systematic racism endured by Black and Ethnic Minorities groups throughout our society and across the globe.

COVID-19 BARRY UPDATE. Another week and another change to the Welsh Government rules to help us through this Coronavirus Pandemic. South Wales Police continue to ensure that everyone abides by the rules.

Welsh Authorities are making huge efforts to avoid the problems associated with an influx of visitors whilst we remain in lockdown.

PREPARING FOR EASING OF LOCKDOWN RULES

Some Barry Island traders have started to prepare for the time when the Government review the Coronavirus Lockdown rules in Wales.

The first businesses to open are those who can offer take-away services. In fact these businesses were never forced by legislation to stop trading. They felt, however, that they had a social responsibility to close so as not to offer anything that might tempt the crowds of visitors we saw on the first weekend of lockdown….

RESPECT LOCKDOWN RULES

With we have another bank holiday coming and there re photographs across the news of packed beaches in England. Barry Police are taking no chances and are implementing lockdown rules to ensure that our beaches remain safe and acesssible for local residents only.

These outside areas are for us, and us alone to use for exercise and fresh air whilst effectively social distancing…..

JACQUIE’S HIGH STREET; RAINBOW COLOURS AND PLENTIFUL FRESH SUPPLIES

Its really important to eat as healthily as possible even in lockdown. Lets not forget to support those small businesses who need our custom more than ever before and are working in such difficult circumstances.
This week in HIGH STREET we were very impressed to see a fabulous range of colourful fresh produce at JACKIE’S, fruit and veg shop. Easy to miss as so many shops in the street are closed.

BARRY WATERFRONT ASDA | determined to make your safety their priority

The daily queues outside local supermarkets are weirdly becoming the norm and empty streets, beaches, parks and playgrounds are not as shocking as they were this time last week.

TV advertisements are telling us that many of the large supermarket have reviewed their hygiene procedures in light of the covid_19 pandemic but nothing is as reassuring as having seen things for yourself.

In contrast to the situation we had last weekend with crowds of visitors arriving for their ‘daily exercise’ on our beaches and in our parks Wales has finally taken the lockdown safeguards seriously.

FIRST NIGHT OF BARRY LOCKDOWN | START OF THE CORONA ROLLERCOASTER

FIRST NIGHT OF BARRY LOCKDOWN Last Saturday night was the first nights that all pubs, clubs and restaurants closed and the town in Barry were in Lockdown. The streets were was eerily quiet.

Check out the images taken Saturday night at 11pm. Broad street would normally be buzzing as people meet their friends, grab a take-away or move from the pub to the late night clubs.
