SpeedData Pro Stock Video Metadata is here at last!
It’s hard to believe we are ready to launch our integrated Stock Video Metadata Generator! When we first introduced SpeedData Pro, our aim was straightforward: to help stock photographers spend less time preparing metadata and more time doing what they enjoy — taking photographs.
As working stock contributors ourselves, we knew just how much time could disappear into writing titles, descriptions and keywords, selecting categories and preparing submissions for different stock photography agencies. Not to mention the tedious nature of those tasks!
And when the same photograph was destined for Shutterstock, Adobe Stock, Getty/iStock and Pond5, that work often had to be repeated and adapted for each platform.
SpeedData Pro was developed by 3 Eyed Raven Productions to tackle those problems.
But stock photography doesn’t stand still, so neither could our software.
Like many stock contributors, we had also accumulated a huge backlog of video footage waiting to be processed, titled, described, categorised and keyworded. We had spent the time and effort capturing the footage, but finding the hours to prepare accurate stock video metadata for every clip was another matter entirely and presented more complex challenges.
The footage was ready. The metadata wasn’t.
And that’s where the next major evolution of SpeedData Pro began. We wanted to bring the same time-saving approach we’d developed for photographs to stock video metadata, but with something far more intelligent than simply extracting and analysing still frames.
And so SpeedData Pro Got a Huge Upgrade
Over many months of developing and refining SpeedData Pro, we rigorously tested its native video analysis on our own footage.
Something rather exciting began to happen.
Our once-daunting backlog of stock videos started to disappear! SpeedData Pro now takes metadata beyond CSV exports by embedding titles, descriptions and keywords directly into full-resolution JPEG copies using IPTC/XMP standards, while preserving the original EXIF information.
This opens up more opportunities for contributors working with agencies such as Alamy, Depositphotos and Dreamstime, where embedded metadata can simplify the submission process. Instead of repeatedly copying and pasting information, your photographs can carry their metadata with them.
Original files remain untouched, while SpeedData Pro creates separate, metadata-rich JPEG copies ready for upload. It’s another powerful addition that saves time, reduces repetitive work and gives stock photographers greater flexibility across different agencies.
IMPORTANT — Choose the Right Export for Your Agency
For Shutterstock, Adobe Stock, Getty/iStock and Pond5, we recommend using SpeedData Pro’s dedicated, agency-specific metadata exports. These contain richer, platform-tailored information, including category selection and agency-specific requirements that cannot all be carried within standard IPTC fields.
Embedded IPTC metadata is an additional option, not a replacement for these dedicated exports. It’s particularly useful when submitting photographs to other stock libraries, such as Alamy, Depositphotos and Dreamstime, where embedded titles, descriptions and keywords can help streamline your workflow and extend your portfolios to additional agencies.
